Having a sewing machine means independence, income and empowerment!
We at carestation are excited to share the update on the self employment project we initiated in Ramadhan. 13 Juki industrial sewing machines were distributed among widows and women headed families from the southern province on the 19th of August 2018. The event was held at Al-Humaizara National School and the event was graced by Mr. Aamir Nazeer, chairman of Urban Council Kalutara(Cheif Guest) Mr. U.D.C Jayalal (Guest of honour) and Mr. M.R.M.Rizvi, Principal of Al-Humaizara National School
What We Raised funds For:
We aimed to invest in widows and women headed families who are trained in tailoring skills so that they can access jobs or self-employment opportunities .
By learning how to provide for themselves and become self-sufficient, we believe these sewing machines will benefit not only the women, but also their families, their community and their country as a whole.
By selling the clothing the women create with the sewing machine we provided, they will be able to fund their childrens education and materials in the future.
Thank You!
We appreciate all the support we received from our dedicated volunteers generous individuals and organizations. Our next distribution will take place in kandy the following week and We are excited to continue working with these empowered women and can’t wait to post pictures of the progress your contributions enabled!
